Boy, Oh Boy, I'm Going to Have a What???

I'm going to have a little SISTER!!!
Wes and I were expecting a boy. Back at the 11 week ultrasound, the doctor said she thought it was a boy. Of course that early, things can change, but we still were thinking that she might be right. Then, I had a dream about having a boy, like I did with Westin. THEN, I had a dream that we went back and the doctor checked again and said, "Oh, it went back in. We have a girl!" At this point I was thinking, "Ok, whatever, my dreams aren't helping me any this time. Unless they mean we are going to get a Hermaphrodite. Man, that would be...I'm not even going to think about that." So, we went in thinking we'd probably be having a boy and it turned out the opposite. We are really happy to be having a girl! A boy would have been great too, especially since we love our first so much, but it will be nice to have one of each.

Westin's Summer

We have seen lots of changes in our little man. Just when we think he can't get anymore fun, he does! Westin is about 30 inches tall and 22 lbs. He is a little guy on the charts, but doesn't seem to hold him back. This summer we've seen his dancing skills improve quite a bit. It's really fun to watch him start to wiggle when a song comes on that he likes. He loves to climb and often when he gets to the top of his destination he will clap or wiggle a bit. He makes it very obvious that he is proud of himself. He gives kisses by grabbing your face and planting one right on your lips, but he will not do this on demand. It's usually out of the blue, when you least expect it. Hugs are a little more frequent. He likes to show you that he can throw garbage away. He is able to find the trash can anywhere-the airport, a friend's new house, Grandma and Grandpa's. Just give him your garbage and he will get it where it belongs. He knows what comes next in the songs we sing him and he says a handful of words. This morning he pointed to some blue eggs on the cover of his "Colors" book and said, "blue!" It sounded more like, "boo," but that's close enough. He also says: kitty, car, tree, mama, mom, dada, dad, this, that, bird, clock, hi, bye, yeah, boom...and a few other infrequent ones, and probably some that I'm forgetting. We've not done so well blogging this summer, so here a few pics we missed:

Time with GG and Papa Wayne.

The deWitts came to visit and Westin love all the attention and fun he got from the ladies!

We hiked Multnomah Falls in OR, with Dad/Grandpa Kanooth, Andrea, Kaitlyn, Ally, Leif, and Rachel.

Lake Tahoe for the day. It's nice that it's so close, but next time we go I'll have to not be pregnant. Winding roads...no good can come of that, and it didn't! When we were out of the car it was nice.

Washington/Depoe Bay, OR Trip (Lots of Pics)

It all start with the prep. Westin trying on his shades and beach hat. They didn't last very long. He doesn't like things on his head or face.

This is after our 1hr and 1/2 flight to Portland, this was our first plane ride where Westin was mobile. Notice both of the concerned faces thinking, "I'm glad to be off that plane."

We had a chance before going to the beach to stop by Grandpa/Great G-Pa Kanooth. Westin loved roaming around and eating a ton of blueberry along with the rest of us. We all paid the price later. (Come on Leif & Rachel you know what I'm talking about)

Fun times at the beach with cousins.

We had a great time celebrating Steven, Steve and Becky's Birthdays

We had awesome sunsets

More beach fun with all the gang.

And the always fun family picture (Thanks to Tom & Jeannie for a wonderful week)

Shirt Details

Baby should be here in February. We got the shirt at cafepress.com. Westin will be 22 months when new baby arrives. We are going to try and get Westin to stop slapping faces before the sibling comes.

REALLY Cute Little Girl Stuff...& Some for Little Boys

A friend of ours started a business making head bands and hair clips for little girls. She's since expanded to making shoes, onesies, ties, and other stuff. She now has a kiosk at Galleria Mall, downstairs, in the new section, outside of Sears. Swing by and check out her stock-it is all really adorable. You can check out her website to get an idea: http://www.violetsinbloom.com/

Westin's 1st Haircut!

I'm sad to say that we cut off his sweet curls. His hair was getting quite shaggy and at times looked like a mullet, but we still loved it. I have to keep reminding myself that it will grow back. Our friend Lucy did a great job cutting it, despite the fact that Westin doesn't sit still. Really though, what 14 month old sits still for a haircut?
